There’s nothing new about Kaláka Ensemble’s returning to the festival, as their connection to Kecskemétfilm goes way back. And just as they have been doing it since 1969, they will sing poems to us in Hungarian from various eras and various countries again. That is why people say that the music of Kaláka Ensemble is not a style but a genre—the genre of sung poems. Within that, a perfect mix of Hungarian and other folk tunes, jazz rhythms, Latin music and chansons serve the authentic interpretation of the poets’ message to the audience.
