24 June | Saturday 14:00 | Hirös Agora | Room Nr. 32
Intergenerational panel discussion about the long lasting impact of György Kovásznai’s (1934–1983) oeuvre on Hungarian and international animation. The event commemorates the artist’s upcoming 90th birthday and the recent release of the 3rd edition of the Kovasznai monograph. The discussion will be moderated by film historian Anna Ida Orosz with the participation of:
- József Fülöp, animated film director, rector of MOME;
- István Orosz, Kossuth Award-winning graphic designer and animated film director;
- Vivien Hárshegyi, animated film director;
- János Másik, composer of the music of Bubble Bath (Kovásznai’s feature film);
- Dorottya Kovásznai, the artist’s daughter, director of the Kovasznai Research Centre.
Kovásznai’s short film Ça Ira: The Song of the French Revolution will be screened before the talk. This event is the continuation of past years’ Kovásznai-focused programmes at KAFF. In 2021 there was a screening of Bubble Bath at the festival, while shortly after Kovásznai’s passing KAFF hosted a major exhibition of the artist’s large oil paintings.
