Bohém Ragtime Jazz Band is probably the most diverse jazz band of the world, as the eight members of the group have a total of sixteen instruments, and not one of them is left unused. Not to mention all the other instrument-like objects suitable for music making, all the singing, and the occasional dance steps included in the show. The number of styles in their repertoire is on par with the number of their instruments.
Their concerts recall the atmosphere of America in the 1910s, ‘20s and ‘30s, with the addition of some fun and bohemian extras. And the old Hungarian songs take us back to the peaceful times in Budapest around the turn of the century. The perfect entertainment for anyone from preschool children to grannies (and don’t leave your grandpa home either!).
The Bohéms have played in almost all the great traditional jazz festivals of the world from Berlin to Oslo, Dresden to Breda, Pori to Montreux, Ascona to Bude, and Rimini to Sacramento. They regularly perform with guest stars.
Their concerts were broadcast by European and American television and radio channels, and tracks from the 21 albums they published so far are also frequently included in jazz programmes of radios around the globe. They have been organizing the Bohém Ragtime & Jazz Festival since 1992. They won the eMeRTon Award for Jazz Band of the Year in 2003 and received the Prima Award in Bács-Kiskun County in the category of Hungarian Music in 2010.
