The book presents the adventurous journey of comics in Hungary from caricature series carved in wood in the 1800s to digital drawings. The history of comics constantly changes depending on the current state of politics and the press and it is also impacted by foreign influence. There was a time when they were seen as a source of entertainment for people who cannot read, later as a substitute for literature, and today we accept them as a separate form of expression, a form of art. The book shares with us the work of Hungarian graphic artists, artists who not only made comics but caricatures, illustrations, posters, book covers and animated films too. Some of them drew comics as side projects, in fact, most artists did it this way, but there were also many who chose this as their primary form of expression. They brought colour to the everyday life of many of us with their comic series, and today still a lot of people collect comics cut out of the newspapers or enjoy new publications of graphic novels.
