A major volume was published in 2022 about the life and career of Merited and Outstanding Artist Ferenc Cakó, who has enjoyed great Hungarian and international success for half a century now in the area of Hungarian animated film making in its broader sense. The book gives an almost all-encompassing overview of the director’s life from his studies to achieving world fame, we can learn about his thorough and deep education, the stations of his incredibly strong and confident development of drawing skills, his attraction to animation, to stop-motion films at a young age, the early accolades he received at the start of his career, and then his development at Pannonia Film Studio as he got to clay animation, and as the consecutive successes of his artistic career started. His achievements were crowned by his series of sand animation from the end of the 1980s, and then his virtuosic live sand animations from the 1990s. The volume also talks about Ferenc Cakó as a fine artist, as a painter, graphic artist, illustrator and graphic designer. In the publication, art writer Balázs Feledy, conductor Gábor Hollerung, film director Sándor Buglya and writer Gábor Nógrádi share their thoughts with the reader, mentioning important events and the artistic development of Cakó, his broad approach to creative arts, the significance of his innovations, and his successful and deep cooperation with artists from other areas. The book is made visually captivating by rich documentation and illustrations: photos of the creative process, Cakó’s successes, images taken from films, books, along with a lot of essential information. The volume summarizes the artist’s ars poetica: “Fine art, movement, music. The form and visual world of my animated films, live sand animation shows and fine art works can be characterized by the combined effect of the three.” The artistic editor of the 280-page publication is Kinga Cakó.
