PÉTER VÁCZ
Péter Vácz, born in 1988, is an award-winning animation director from Budapest. He graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Animation. His graduation films, Streamschool (2010) and Rabbit and Deer (2012), have earned him worldwide recognition and over 125 awards at international festivals (for instance, at Annecy, YDA in Cannes, Nashville, Atlanta, Anima Mundi). During his studies, he attended the Animation Sans Frontières production workshop, and on an Erasmus scholarship, he took a professional 3D character animation course at The Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark. Since 2013, Péter has been represented by the London-based Picasso Pictures production company, where he made two award-winning music videos, All I’m Saying (2014) and Dear John (2016), for the renowned British rock band, James. His debut live-action short film, Pillowface, had its international premiere at the prestigious Warsaw Film Festival in 2018. In the past few years, Péter has been developing two personal short films titled Noah's Tree and Dog Ear. Besides his professional work, Péter is a passionate teacher, giving workshops and masterclasses worldwide, and since 2020, he has been the artistic director of the Hungarian two-year animation course at the Illyés Animation Academy. In 2023, he became the founding member and the board member of the Hungarian Society of Animation Artists.
