"The Tragedy of Man" is an animated adaptation of Imre Madách's emblematic play. Its plot is based on the biblical story of Creation, with Adam and Eve, the first couple, as protagonists. After being cast out of Paradise by God, the sleeping Adam is led in his sleep by Lucifer, the fallen angel, through the history of mankind into the unknown, distant future. The adaptation, which has been twenty-three years in the making, is the work of Marcell Jankovics, who has created each of the fifteen scenes in a different animation style, yet the grandiose work forms a coherent whole. Visitors to the KAFF screening can see five scenes from the animation.
