JÓZSEF FÜLÖP
József Fülöp is a professor and rector of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME). He is the leader of the animation programme, as well as a visual communication designer, animation artist, animated film director, and producer. Since 2001, he has been a lecturer at MOME, and since 2005 he has been the head of the animation department and the author of the national animation BA and MA programmes. From 2011 to 2014, he served as the director of the Media Institute. He was elected as rector of MOME in 2014, and since 2021 he has been the president of the Rectors of Art Universities (MERSZ) in Hungary. As a designer, he was responsible for the branding of animation studios such as Varga Studio, Studio Baestarts and television channels such as Hír TV, Minimax. His directorial work includes animated advertisements, individual, original films, and interactive content. He also created animation character designs for TV series and illustrations for Hungarian and international magazines. In addition to his teaching career, he has been a producer of graduate films for fifteen years and is proud of the local and international success of these films. Some selected prizes include a Cartoon d’Or nomination in 2007 (Life Line), shortlist for an Academy Award in 2015 (Symphony No. 42), third prize at Cannes Cinéfondation in 2016 (The Noise of Licking), and Teddy Award at Berlinale 2019 (Entropia).
